Outside Comic-Con: The Creators Connect
I first started attending the Connect a few years ago and it has become one of my favorite things to do. This event is a Comic-Con sponsored event but it is off-site at the Marriot Marquis San Diego Marina (where yours truly will be staying). That being said it is not your normal meet and greet.
As their own website states, think of it as speed dating for content creators. Artists (pencilers, inkers, etc…) sit on one side of the table while writers (do we count as artists?) sit on the opposite side of the table. We pitch our work and they pitch there’s, we trade business cards or contact info, and every five minutes the writers get up and rotate to the next artist. As their web site says, it is like speed dating for creative types.
Overall this is a really fun and inspiring time. Just meeting cool creators with similar passions and ideas is a lot of fun and truthfully it connects me with what I love most about Comic-Con. The community of people who have the same passions as I.
Space is limited (of course), especially for writers so if you want to participate email them ASAP. Here is the link to the website. Also it is sponsored by ComiXology which is pretty cool in and of itself.
